True Love

I went to Terra Firma today to try on some Danksos. The Danksos hurt and the sales woman was rude and inattentive. I told her they felt tight and she just said "ok". Uh...shouldn't you ask me more questions about what I am looking for? I told her I needed something stylish but comfortable and she showed me these. What. Since when are clogs stylish? Luckily the new girl saw the look of horror on my face and stepped in. She pointed out these which I loved and I also tried on these. They were both comfy and had some style. The only problem is that they are above $200. Can I pay that much for shoes? I better do some research on these. Why is it so hard to find good work shoes?

With your back the way that it is, I think it is of the utmost importance for you to have really good shoes to stand in at work. Especially with how many tasks you don't get to sit down for. $200 would be worth it if you wore them every day for a long time and they felt good to stand in.
I agree. I typically pay about $170 for the z-coil shoes. I also wear a $300 pair of orthotics most of the time.
When paying for expensive things keep in mind a few things.

Are you going to wear them $200 worth of times (and since they are work, I am guessing that this is a yes)?

Do you absolutely love them? (this may be a no)

Are they comfortable that they are going to make work more pleasurable and you less grumpy?

I think you can pay $200 for shoes, its just a matter of finding the right shoes.
I am pretty sure wearing them to work will put them to $200 worth of use and then some. I actually really like the pumps I posted because they are so neat and would look cute with my skinny black pants.

I can't rely on shoes alone to make my back better but having a good pair will definitely help. I really need to start doing yoga or pilates.
I think yoga or pilates is a great idea. Stretching out your muscles will help tremendously plus this will help you lose weight. I think losing some weight might also help your back. Maybe you can find a morning class to do 2 or 3 days a week before work?

I think having a good pair of shoes is important for fields where you are on your feet all day and it is a struggle in your profession because you need something stylish. My hairstylist invested in an orthodic stool that raises and lowers to help her back because you are also hunched over all day as well which isn't helping.

I think $200 is worth it to feel better at work.
I'm sorry to hear that the salesdroid at Terra Firma was rude to you -- that is completely unacceptable. For those prices, she should be kissing your ass. I am sad to say that I have had similar experiences there.

To clarify my other comment -- $200 for shoes is acceptable -- if the shoes are wonderful for your feet, joints and back.

Also -- those red clogs are teh hideos.
I love the slingbacks. My Danskos were totally worth the ridiculous price I paid for them.
I think yoga would really help you, the yoga studio at my work has very little to offer right now because everyone is going on summer holidays. But I did see that cnm's community education academy was offering an intro to yoga class this summer you should check that out. I hope you find some good shoes that help and $200 is nothing compared to better health and happiness because damn girl you do a lot of standing, you were standing for like 3 hours when you colored my hair
